Virat Kohli’s terrible performance in the T20 World Cup 2024 continued on Wednesday, June 12, as he was removed for a golden duck by Saurabh Netravalkar against the USA at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Chasing a modest score of 111 runs, Rohit Sharma took command with the opening ball. He tapped one to the third-man zone to start the scoring for the Men in Blue. Kohli, coming off two poor performances, was anticipated to spend some time in the middle to restore his form.
However, Virat Kohli responded strongly to Saurabh Netravalkar’s away ball in the opening delivery. The ball was slanted across the right-handed batter, and Kohli’s decision to play away from his body cost him. All he could accomplish was an outside edge, which was easily caught by USA wicketkeeper Andries Gous. Kohli was very sad on his walk back to the dressing room.
This is Kohli’s second golden duck in T20Is, and his first in T20 World Cups.

Saurabh Netravalkar puts the USA on top by dismissing Rohit Sharma
With the odds at 1/1, supporters anticipated Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant to have a strong combination and set up India’s chase. However, Saurabh Netravalkar outperformed the Men in Blue captain, who stepped back after hitting three runs off six deliveries.
In the third over of the innings, Netravalkar bowled a scrambled seam that remained on the pitch after pitching. Rohit closed the bat early, causing a top edge. Harmeet Singh sprinted back from mid-off to make a fantastic catch.
