Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson ran out an excellent review to deliver Mumbai Indians (MI) opener Ishan Kishan caught behind off the bowling of instigator Andrew Tye in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash had its venue Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday (April 22). Little Ishan Kishan went for a throw on just three-ball and a duck.

The dismissal occurred in the second over of MI’s innings. Sandeep Sharma produced a magnificent outswinger, and Ishan Kishan hardly moved his feet as the ball got a small edge and carried to the wicketkeeper.

The on-field umpire showed a sign of disinterest as Sanju Samson felt confident and made a successful DRS to reduce MI to the now 6-2 in just 1.3 overs, which both openers calculated to lose at once. Altogether, the keeper Trent Boult had got some excellent help by sending back Rohit Sharma early off Trent Boult in their first session.

After Ishan Kishan’s not impressive performance for MI ahead of 2024 T20 World Cup, he is trying hard to improve his form. He has consistently managed 192 runs from eight games in an eight game period at a strike rate of 168.42, the half century included.

MI were on 50/3 after seven overs, with Mohammad Nabi and Tilak Varma at the crease.

MI make two changes against RR in IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians made two changes after skipper Hadik Pandya won the toss and decided to bat first against the Rajasthan Royals. Nehal Wadhera and Piyush Chawla replaced Romario Shephard and Shreyas Gopal in the playing XI. Nuwan Thushara was named to the impact players list.

At the toss, Pandya stated:

“We are gonna bat first, looks like a good wicket, we didn’t see much dew in the last couple of days hence the decision to bat first. We got three changes – Nuwan, Wadhera and Piyush Chawla come in. Shepherd, Madhwal, and Shreyas Gopal go out.”

Meanwhile, RR made a solitary alteration, replacing Kuldeep Sen with Sandeep Sharma.

Regarding the league standings right now, RR are at the top of the leader board with six wins in the first seven games played. They defeated Mumbai by 6 wickets via the Wankhede. They did it before this season.

MI, on the other side, is eighth, having won three of their seven matches.
