Sanju Samson, an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, has claimed that he will only focus on the things he can control, rather than his performance or selection setbacks.
Aged 29, he didn’t make the cut for the 2023 World Cup that recently ended. As an Indian wicketkeeper for white-ball, he’s seemingly less preferred. Nevertheless, he fired back with an impressive first-ever international century during the ODI series final against South Africa at Paarl.
When the chance to bat at No. 3 presented itself, Samson took it. He madely 108 runs from 114 pitches on a slow-moving pitch, leading India to a victorious, game-changing total of 296/8 in 50 overs.
Sanju Samson emphasized his attention on solely the controllable areas of his game in a post-game video issued by BCCI.
Even with a remarkable 50-over record, averaging over 56, this marked his maiden ODI century after 16 attempts.
Post the 2023 World Cup squad rejection, Sanju Samson shone in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He piled up 293 runs in eight matches, averaging 48.83 and striking at 87.98.
Sanju Samson’s brilliant knock guides India to second ODI series victory in South Africa
Thanks to Sanju Samson’s remarkable hundred runs, India clinched a thrilling 2-1 One Day International series victory over South Africa. This achievement marks India as the initial Asian team to claim two One Day International series triumphs in South Africa, replicating their 5-1 win from 2018.
The Men in Blue, who lost the toss and elected to bat first, recovered from losing two early wickets in 50 overs to score a superior 296. With a stunning 81 off 87, South Africa’s opener Tony de Zorzi proceeded to hammer away at Indian bowling, leading his team to 161/3 in the thirtyth over.
But the Proteas collapsed when he was out, going from 161/3 to being bowled out for 218.
After a 1-1 tie in the T20I series, India essentially won the white-ball leg in South Africa with a 78-run triumph.
The teams will now meet in a much-anticipated two-Test series, which will begin on December 26 at Centurion.
