With a consistently good domestic cricket career, Sanjay Yadav almost paved his way for IPL 2023 but unfortunately he remained unsold in the auction. Yadav was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017 for INR 10 Lakh, however he was not given an opportunity to play. Later in 2020, Sunrisers Hyderabad picked Sanjay Yadav for INR 20 Lakh.
Yadav in TNPL, 2022
Ramsingh Sanjay Yadav (27) is an all round cricket player who bats left handed and bowls slower left arm. He stole the limelight with his exceptionally impeccable performance in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), 2022. Yadav was the ‘Man of the Tournament’ where he topped the score table with 452 runs and an excellent strike rate of 186.77. He also took 6 wickets in the entire season, thus doing everything right.
Could have Yadav done it for CSK?
Sanjay Yadav was dropped from the list by Mumbai Indians prior to the IPL Auction which came as a huge shocker to everyone considering the fierce performance of the player in TNPL. Post being released by MI, there were speculations that CSK might want to give Sanjay Yadav a chance and pick him in the IPL 2023 Auction.
Yadav is an all rounder and CSK could have secured him as a backup for Ravindra Jadeja. Given the stats of Sanjay, he is as good as Jadeja in domestic cricket. CSK had INR 20.45 Crore to spend in the IPL 2023 Auction and Sanjay Yadav could have been a bargain pick for them. An opportunity to Sanjay Yadav might have been a right thing to do for CSK, but we regret to say, it is all done now!
Brother Sonu Yadav picked by RCB
Sanjay Yadav’s younger brother Sonu Yadav paved his way for Bengaluru when Royal Challengers Bangalore picked him for his base price INR 20 Lakhs. Thus, it was not all dull and sad for the Yadav brothers and we hope we get to see more of Sanjay Yadav playing in the next season of the IPL.
