Sanjay Manjrekar suggests that the Rajasthan Royals should extend the same trust to several of their players that they give to Riyan Parag.
In seven innings of IPL 2023, Parag scored 78 runs at a terrible average of 13.00. However, he has been retained by the club ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, possibly as a result of his outstanding performances for Assam in this season’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
While previewing the auction on Start Sports, Sanjay Manjrekar expressed his desire that the Rajasthan Royals support Dhruv Jurel as much as Parag. He went on to say:
“They continue to back Riyan Parag. I think they might need a little more strengthening of batting and I hope they back Dhruv Jurel because there was something there last season. They need to start trusting other players the way they do with Riyan Parag.”

The former India cricketer praised the Royals for acquiring Avesh Khan from the Lucknow Super Giants. He reasoned as follows:
“I like the fact that they have gone for somebody like an Avesh Khan, so there is a little more support there for Prasidh Krishna. This is another team that looks all stacked up.”

Sanjay Manjrekar believes the Royals have adequate spin options, pointing out that Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal make an excellent tandem. He also stated that he will not be shocked if the inaugural IPL champions pursue Gerald Coetzee to bolster their seam-bowling department.
Irfan Pathan praises Donavon Ferreira’s power hitting, wants Rajasthan Royals to use him in the top order
Meanwhile, Irfan Pathan believes the Rajasthan Royals should use Donavon Ferreira’s big-hitting ability by moving him up the order. During the aforementioned encounter, he stated:
“Just look at the name Donavon Ferreira. If he can bat at the right position, I think he is one of the most powerful hitters I have seen in recent times. He can struggle against spin but if he bats up the order, maybe No. 3, that slot of one overseas batter will be sorted.”

While commenting that the Royals’ playing XI is nearly complete, the former India all-rounder remarked that they may become even more fearsome if a player of his kind is recruited. He stated:
“Then Dhruv Jurel coming in with an Impact Player, you can have a longer batting lineup. They look pretty sorted, they are ready to play tomorrow as well, but if they can have an all-rounder in their squad, they will be a much better side on paper.”

The Royals still have 14.50 crore in their bank account. At the auction, they can purchase a maximum of eight players, including three foreigners.
