On March 28th, England’s star wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler arrived in Jaipur to join the Rajasthan Royals (RR) squad in preparation for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The club took to social media to announce his arrival, with Shimron Hetmyer, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Yashasvi Jaiswal using a dialogue from the Salman Khan blockbuster ‘Wanted’ to mark the occasion.
Under the captaincy of Sanju Samson, Rajasthan Royals (RR) surprised many with their impressive performances in last year’s IPL. With 9 wins from 14 matches, they secured second place on the points table. However, the team could not claim their second title, losing to Gujarat Titans (GT) by seven wickets in the deciding match at Narendra Modi Stadium.
Jos Buttler was the top-scorer in IPL 2022
Jos Buttler was on fire in the previous IPL, as he ended up being the most destructive batsman of the tournament. His terrific batting helped his team qualify for the grand finale. With 863 runs across 17 matches, Buttler was crowned with the Orange Cap after slamming four centuries and four half-centuries during the season.
Jos Buttler and Virat Kohli of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) now share the record for hitting the highest number of centuries in a single IPL season. On Sunday, April 2, 2023, the Rajasthan Royals will kick off their IPL campaign with an afternoon match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
