Rohit Sharma the eloquent leader of the Indian contingent orchestrated a remarkable performance that proved instrumental in securing victory for the Men in Blue during the intense 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa. The electrifying showdown transpired at Barbados iconic Kensington Oval on a significant Saturday June 29.
The Indian skipper tactically positioned a fielder deep at fine leg right after De Kock hammered a four off Arshdeep Singh in the 13th over of the Proteas run chase. The lefthander exited after scoring 39 runs from 31 balls including one six and four boundaries.
Arshdeep was dismissed for bowling a length ball that angled onto the pads. De Kock attempted to pull it behind square leg but encountered Kuldeep Yadav at deep fine leg. Following the last boundary shot, Rohit Sharma had moved Kuldeep from short fine to deep position.

India opted to take the batting lead tallying a formidable 176/7 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli showcased his batting finesse by amassing 76 runs off 59 deliveries featuring two towering sixes and a flurry of six boundaries. Noteworthy performances also came from Axar Patel who contributed 47 runs off 31 balls and Shivam Dube who added 27 runs from 16 deliveries solidifying Indias innings.
Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje have stood out as the top performers among the Proteas bowlers securing two wickets each. Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen managed to pick up one wicket each. On the other hand Aiden Markram and his teammates found themselves at 1555 after 17 overs with Marco Jansen and David Miller holding the fort at the crease.
The Men in Blue are in pursuit of only their second T20 World Cup victory striving to replicate their success in the inaugural edition back in 2007. Rohit Sharma and his squad are determined to break Indias dry streak in ICC competitions with their last title triumph dating back to the 2013 Champions Trophy.
However South Africa is pursuing their firstever T20 World Cup triumph with great zeal. The Proteas have yet to clinch an ICC title apart from their glorious victory in the 1998 Champions Trophy.
