In a breathtaking display of leadership Indias captain Rohit Sharma showcased his brilliance against the renowned Australian ace pacer Mitchell Starc in the 2024 T20 World Cup clash at Daren Sammy National Stadium in Gros Islet St Lucia on Monday June 24. Sharmas masterful batting resulted in an impressive score of 28 runs off Starc comprising four powerful sixes and two boundaries. Notably the third over witnessed a whirlwind of 29 runs including an unexpected wide delivery.
Rohit’s counterattack came after Virat Kohli went for a duck in the previous (second) over, shifting the momentum in India’s favor.
The senior batsman hammered two successive sixes at deep extra cover before smashing fours at mid-on and mid-wicket. The fifth ball was a dot, but Starc produced a wide delivery with the sixth ball. The left-arm pacer was smacked for a six at third man on the final delivery. Rohit’s top edge full toss flew past the boundary skirtings.
