Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is well-known for his sense of comedy and spectacular one-liners. Some of his comments were also heard on the stump mic and went viral, particularly during India’s just finished Test series against England.
One of Rohit’s stump mic statements that went viral was when he informed the players “koi garden mein nahi ghumega (no one will roam in the garden)”, encouraging them to be more attention on the field.

Speaking with legendary comedian Kapil Sharma on The Great Indian Kapil Show on Netflix, Rohit Sharma explained why his stump mic comments went viral:’
“I do say things on the ground. Unfortunately, where I stand, it’s right behind the stump mic. So whatever I say, people probably get to hear the most of it. But I don’t even have a choice. Ye ladke, susth murge hai sab (these boys are lazy bums). They don’t even run. So I have to use that language.”

Notorious for tough comments on younger players, Rohit showed care as Indian captain. Rohit led several youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, who thrived during India’s Test series against England. Despite criticism of harsh words, these players excelled under Rohit’s leadership.
Shreyas Iyer and Rohit Sharma shared banter on the show

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer appeared on the same show and disputed with Rohit Sharma’s opinion that the youth do not put in enough effort. Shreyas says:
“This is wrong. This is wrong I don’t agree with this.”
To this, Rohit cheekily replied:
“Prove it then and I won’t say it.”

Shreyas Iyer was dropped from the Test team throughout the series because to his poor performance. He was also not considered for the BCCI central contract, which many attributed to his absence from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy quarterfinals.
