Robin Uthappa recently pointed out how Team India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer made a mistake in his shot selection during their 2023 World Cup opener in Chennai against Australia.
Iyer came out to bat after Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan failed to make an impact. However, he failed to save his squad by bagging a duck. The right-handed batsman died on the third pitch he faced while attempting an audacious drive.
Uthappa believes that in such instances, Iyer should strive to absorb pressure in order to excel in the 50-over format.
Uthappa also advised the team management not to promote Shreyas Iyer to No. 3 in the forthcoming match against Afghanistan in Delhi on Wednesday, October 11.
