A former Australian cricketer, Tom Moody, commented that despite the hype surrounding Riyan Parag from the Rajasthan Royals (RR), he has yet to show his true worth in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The coach-turned-player added that the team’s investment in Parag has not been repaid yet.
Parag had the difficult task of delivering with the bat against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Guwahati on Wednesday as Rajasthan Royals (RR) was chasing a challenging 198-run target. Despite getting off to a good start, he could not convert it into a significant score and only made 20 runs from 12 balls. Ex-cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar also noted how Parag has yet to truly stand out in the RR playing XI despite regularly featuring in recent years.
Rajasthan Royals lost the match by a mere 5 runs.
“I think he is underrated”: Tom Moody on Nathan Ellis dismissing Riyan Parag
Tom Moody praised Punjab Kings bowler Nathan Ellis for his impressive bowling performance against Rajasthan Royals. He noted that not only does Ellis have the ability to bowl quickly, but he also has a lethal slower ball in his arsenal. Moody stated that once Kagiso Rabada returns from injury, Punjab’s team management will have plenty of options. He said:
Ellis picked up four crucial wickets, including Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, and Riyan Parag.
