Sharma kicked off the campaign on a high note scoring an impressive unbeaten 105 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) despite ending up on the losing side. However he has faced challenges in maintaining consistency gathering a total of 330 runs over 12 innings averaging at 30.00.
“He won’t be at Mumbai Indians next season” – Wasim Akram on Rohit Sharma’s IPL future
Mumbai Indians encountered the wrath of ardent fans after the unceremonious removal of Rohit Sharma as their skipper. Rohit Sharma remains one of the leagues most accomplished captains having led Mumbai to secure five IPL titles.
Wasim Akram, Pakistan’s bowling icon, has prophesied that Sharma’s long-standing affiliation with MI will end after the current season. He thought that the swashbuckling hitter would be an excellent fit for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Wasim Akram stated:
Rohit Sharma is gearing up to dazzle the crowds on Saturday May 11 in the upcoming faceoff between MI and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens. Remarkably Mumbai has become the pioneer team to officially bow out of contention for the IPL 2024 playoffs.
