WedneÂsday June 12 witnessed TeÂam Indias wicketkeepeÂr Rishabh Pant departing in an unfortunate incident during the 2024 T20 World Cup showdown against the United States of AmeÂrica at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in NeÂw York. Pant exited the fieÂld after accumulating 18 runs from 20 deliverieÂs.
Rishabh Pant had to come in as early as the third delivery of the innings after Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck. The left-handed hitter shown purpose by hitting a boundary off Ali Khan’s opening ball, but Rohit Sharma’s dismissal at the other end didn’t assist his cause.
Along with Suryakumar Yadav, the wicket-keeper batsman attempted to save the innings. They had pulled India to 36-2 after seven overs, with a massive assignment in the middle overs ahead.
Rishabh Pant’s stint at the crease was cut short in the following over as Ali Khan came around the wicket. The right-arm pacer’s length delivery remained low and slipped onto the stumps, leaving Pant stranded at the crease. He failed to lower his bat in time, leaving a helpless figure as he walked back to the pavilion. Look at the dismissal right here:
Rishabh Pant has scored runs in his new No.3 position in Team India’s victories over Ireland and Pakistan this tournament. He opened his career with an undefeated 36 and then led the way with 42 in a recent victory over the Men in Green.
