Young Indian sensation Rinku Singh has been called up by the team to Dharamsala ahead of the England Test for a photo shoot promoting the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The big event starts on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA, with the last game on June 29. With the invite, the 26-year-old may have almost got a place on the Indian T20 World Cup team.
Rinku has ignited the international scene with his fantastic start, averaging 89 at a strike rate of more than 176 in 15 T20I appearances. Following an outstanding 38 in his debut batting appearance for India against Ireland, the southpaw has already scored crucial match-winning runs for the team in his short career.
His important 29-ball 46 in the fourth Twenty20 International against Australia enabled the Men in Blue win the five-match series. Rinku’s first T20I half-century came during a tour of South Africa, when he made an unbeaten 39-ball 68 in the second game.
The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer had probably his greatest T20I effort when he saved India from defeat in the series decider against Afghanistan earlier this year. Rinku came into bat with India at 22/4 and blasted a magnificent 69* off 39 deliveries to help India reach 212 in 20 overs.
Since MS Dhoni’s departure, the Asian heavyweights have been looking for a solid finisher, and Rinku Singh has supplied that and more in his limited T20I career.
