Virat Kohli, the star batter for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), acknowledged being in awe of Rinku Singh’s onslaught against the Gujarat Titans. The 34-year-old admitted that he is unable of matching the accomplishments of today’s youth. When the Kolkata Knight Riders needed 29 off the last over, Rinku Singh assisted them in mounting an incredible comeback. When the two-time champs chased down 205, the left-hander hit five sixes off the final five deliveries.
With 38 runs needed off just eight deliveries, the game appeared to be over for KKR. Rinku Singh, however, had other ideas.
Rinku had the absurd challenge of needing 28 runs from the last five balls to win his side the game after finishing the 19th over with a six and a boundary. The southpaw, though, showed no signs of flinching and achieved the unthinkable. He hit Yash Dayal for five consecutive maximums to help KKR create an amazing run chase. Rinku remained unbeaten at 48 off just 21 balls and single-handedly authored his team’s greatest run-chase in history with six lusty maximums and a boundary.
Kohli thought Rinku Singh’s adventures were unbelievable and that it is amazing to witness the shift occurring so quickly when speaking to Robin Uthappa on Jio Cinema. The former captain of the RCB said:
“What the youngsters are doing today is amazing to see. Look at this IPL, I couldn’t even think of doing stuff that these guys are doing. Just the other night Rinku Singh hits five sixes in five balls, which is amazing & never happened something like that. Coming in and hitting five sixes in a row to win a match, I mean what level is this? So, that transition happening is great. It is great to see such youngsters coming up.”
On Friday at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Rinku encountered yet another predicament while chasing 229 against the SunRisers Hyderabad. He maintained his perfect record of 57, but the two-time champions were outscored by 23 runs.

The Delhi-born cricketer, who has frequently served as the sheet anchor, claimed that those who have never been in a similar circumstance would not understand the significance of the position. He clarified:
“Yeah, for sure. I completely agree with that. There are many people who because they have not been in the same situation themselves, look at the game differently. Suddenly when the powerplay is done, they will be like ‘Oh, they have started rotating the strike.’ I’m not thinking about the strike rate. If the situation demands, I can play at 230 strike rate and I can do this any day.”
