In the early 2000s, EA Sports released EA Cricket 07, a series of video games focused on the sport of cricket, playable on Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 2.
Despite the potential for cricket games to be successful, EA Cricket failed to meet fan expectations worldwide. Although it was popular in the Trans-Tasman region, England, and South Asia, it struggled to gain traction in other parts of the world due to the sport’s limited global reach.
EA Cricket encountered challenges obtaining licenses from cricket teams. When some groups refused to grant official permits, the game used comical names for players from those countries.
