On Tuesday, March 19, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) players carried the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 trophy around Bengaluru in a victory parade. The Smriti Mandhana-led side won the title on Sunday (March 17), defeating the Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets in the final.

It had bee­n a significant victory for RCB, as well as their devote­d supporters. They waited e­xpectantly, over 16 IPL seasons, to ce­lebrate success. The­ women’s team claimed glory on just the­ir second attempt, finally ending the­ franchise’s long trophy drought.

Ellyse Perry, an all-rounder, scored 347 runs at an average of 69.40 and was awarded the orange hat. Shreyanka Patil, 21, got the purple cap after taking 13 wickets in eight matches and was also named Emerging Player of the Season.

The majority of the players attended the RCB unboxing celebration on Tuesday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium to commemorate the amazing victory with the team’s devoted supporters. They also had a victory parade in front of a large audience. A fan posted a video on X to offer everyone a glimpse of it online.

Smriti Mandhana Applauds Management’s Supportive Role in RCB’s WPL 2024 Triumph

After the WPL 2024 final versus DC, RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana thanked team management for believing in and supporting her ideas. Reflecting on the victory, she stated:

“The management backed my ideas and they allowed me to build the team the way I wanted so a big thumbs up to them. For RCB, it’s a lot more and we won this cup as an unit. For us to do this as a franchise is really special.

“This will be one of the best moments and only a world cup win can top this one off. I would like to thank the fans of RCB as they have been outstanding throughout the tournament.”
