On Tuesday, March 19, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) players carried the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 trophy around Bengaluru in a victory parade. The Smriti Mandhana-led side won the title on Sunday (March 17), defeating the Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets in the final.
It had been a significant victory for RCB, as well as their devoted supporters. They waited expectantly, over 16 IPL seasons, to celebrate success. The women’s team claimed glory on just their second attempt, finally ending the franchise’s long trophy drought.
Ellyse Perry, an all-rounder, scored 347 runs at an average of 69.40 and was awarded the orange hat. Shreyanka Patil, 21, got the purple cap after taking 13 wickets in eight matches and was also named Emerging Player of the Season.
The majority of the players attended the RCB unboxing celebration on Tuesday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium to commemorate the amazing victory with the team’s devoted supporters. They also had a victory parade in front of a large audience. A fan posted a video on X to offer everyone a glimpse of it online.
