Ravindra Jadeja is one of the world’s finest all rounder. He has been outstanding in the ongoing IPL 2023 season.
Jadeja has been a major player of the Chennai Super Kings team, guiding them to their 10th IPL final after defeating the Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1. CSK defeated the reigning champions on their own turf, thanks to a magnificent all round effort by the squad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was named Player of the Match for his half-century, since he was the only player from both teams to cross 42 runs. However, Jadeja contributed in both categories, scoring 22 runs off 16 balls and returning with figures of 2/18 from four overs.
It is not the first time the 34 year old has delivered when the stakes are elevated. When the playoffs arrive, the all rounder is more than capable of showing up for his team.
Here are three of Ravindra Jadeja’s finest IPL Playoffs performances:
1) CSK vs SRH, IPL 2018 Qualifier 1
In IPL 2018, Chennai Super Kings defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 1. In the first innings, the MS Dhoni led team held their opponents to a dismal score of 139/7.
Ravindra Jadeja weaved a web around SRH, dominating the middle overs and delivering amazing figures of 1/13 in four overs. He was crucial on a challenging surface at the Wankhede Stadium, with a cruel economy rate of 3.25 in his session.
CSK struggled during their chase, falling to 62/6 when Jadeja was dismissed for three runs. Faf du Plessis struck an unbeaten 67 to claim the Player of the Match title and lead his team to a two wicket victory.
The victory qualified them for the finals, where CSK beat SRH to earn their third IPL title.
2) CSK vs KKR, IPL 2021 Final
After defeating the KKR in the final, CSK won their fourth IPL title in 2021. Faf du Plessis’ 59-ball 86 and cameos from Ruturaj Gaikwad (32 off 27), Robin Uthappa (31 off 15), and Moeen Ali (37 off 20) helped them to 192/3.
In response, the Knight Riders got off to a flying start, with Venkatesh Iyer and Shubman Gill scoring half-centuries.
Ravindra Jadeja broke the partnership by removing the former with a superb catch off Shardul Thakur’s bowling. He also took two wickets to finish with 2/37, removing Dinesh Karthik and Shakib Al Hasan to hammer the last nail in KKR’s coffin.
3) CSK vs MI, IPL 2013 Qualifier 1
In this match, CSK set an impressive total of 192/1, aided by huge knock from Michael Hussey (86 not out off 58) and Suresh Raina (82 not out off 42). In response, Dwayne Smith’s 43-ball 68 got the MI off to a good start.
CSK was able to bring things back beautifully, and it was Ravindra Jadeja who opened the door for them. Smith and Dinesh Karthik’s partnership was broken by him. He removed both batters before taking the key wicket of Kieron Pollard to finish his four overs with figures of 3/31.
Chennai won the game by a comfortable margin of 48 runs. Ravindra Jadeja had an outstanding performance in a critical match.
