Ravindra Jadeja achieved an incredible milestone on Wednesday when he became the second-ever Indian player to score 5,000 runs and take 500 wickets in international cricket. His moment of glory came during the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia in Indore, where he dismissed Aussie opener Travis Head leg-before-wicket for nine runs off of just six balls for his 500th wicket.

Ravindra Jadeja has amassed 5,527 runs in 298 international cricket matches over 241 innings at an impressive average of 33.29. He successfully achieved three centuries and 31 half-centuries in his remarkable career, with his best individual score being 175*. He has also taken 503 wickets in all these matches at an average of 29.35 and an economy rate of 3.51 per over. His most significant bowling figures are 7/42 in an inning.

Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, the legendary Kapil Dev is the only cricketer to have achieved a double of 5,000 international runs and 500 wickets. Kapil scored 9,031 runs in 382 innings across 356 matches, with a batting average of 27.53, nine centuries, and 41 half-centuries. He also took 687 wickets in 356 matches, with the best bowling figures of 9/83 in an inning. Other all-rounders who have achieved the feat of 5,000 runs and 500 wickets in international cricket include Wasim Akram, Imran Khan and Shahid Afridi from Pakistan, Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh, Daniel Vettori from New Zealand, Ian Botham from England, Shaun Pollock and Jacques Kallis from South Africa and Chaminda Vaas from Sri Lanka.
