Ravichandran Ashwin, Team India’s experienced offspinner, recently responded to Rohit Sharma’s “Koi bhi garden me ghoomega toh” stump mic statement. During the five-match home Test series against England earlier this year, the Indian captain was heard using the aforementioned sentence, coupled with a Hindi curse, to caution his players.
Ravichandran Ashwin felt that Rohit Sharma was accurate in referring to Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill as “Garden mein ghume wale log.” He mentioned how the two young guns couldn’t keep the glossy side of the ball dry for reverse swing.
Speaking at a promotional function for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Ashwin stated:
Ravichandran Ashwin shone brightly as Indias primary asset excelling with an impressive tally of 26 wickets in the triumphant 41 Test series victory against England thereby cementing his position as the leading wickettaker of the series.
“I scolded him in anger” – Ravichandran Ashwin on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fielding performance
During the same occasion, Ravichandran Ashwin remembers scolding Yashasvi Jaiswal for his poor fielding performance at short leg.
Ashwin said that he warned the opening batter that even a stone might have stopped a couple of balls. Interestingly, Jaiswal was also there at the promotional event and was on stage when the cunning spinner recounted the episode.
The 37-year-old explained:
Both Ashwin and Jaiswal are presently playing for RR in the ongoing IPL 2024. The Sanju Samson led squad has won eight of their eleven games and is second in the points chart.
