Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan and Team India middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav have a good laugh during the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 match in Bridgetown, Barbados. In the June 20 duel, the right-handed batter used a couple of strong sweeps against the spin magician. Rashid then jokingly ordered him not to play the shot as the two’s conversation progressed.
The incident allegedly occurred after the tenth over of the innings. Suryakumar Yadav hit a four and a six off Rashid Khan to put pressure on the opposition captain. The conversation then began, although it did not appear to be hostile because Rashid was smiling as well.
In an earlier turn of events the Men in Blue clinched the toss victory and took on the challenge of batting first guided by Rohit Sharma’s evaluation of the sluggish playing conditions. However the reigning T20 World titleholders encountered an early setback with Rohit Sharmas swift exit in the third over.
Rashid Khan delivered two body blows by dismissing Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli, followed by Shivam Dube. He finished with amazing figures of 4-0-26-3 and was the team’s best bowler.
Suryakumar Yadav top scores for Team India to set up a 182-run target
The standout player from the Mumbai Indians didnt give the Afghanistan bowlers a chance to settle on what seemed like a challenging surface for batting. Their essential 60-run partnership with Hardik Pandya was a gamechanger.
Suryakumar Yadav achieved a halfcentury in just 27 deliveries striking a boundary off Fazalhaq Farooqi. Tragically he lost his wicket in the 17th over caught by Mohammad Nabi at long-on.
Hardik Pandya also provided 32 runs off 24 deliveries, including three fours and two sixes, with Axar Patel providing the finishing touches. They helped India score 181/8 in 20 overs.
Farooqi, like Rashid, got three wickets in the tournament, bringing his total to 15 in five innings at 7.53 per wicket.
