Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fielder Ramandeep Singh pulled off an outstanding diving catch, dismissing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batsman Deepak Hooda. This thrilling catch happened during the Indian Premier League match between the two teams at Eden Gardens on April 14th.
Deepak Hooda, who replaced the struggling Devdutt Padikkal in the playing eleven, failed to make a significant impact. The right-handed batsman managed only eight runs from ten deliveries before departing. With Hooda’s wicket, the Knight Riders reduced Lucknow to 39/2 after 4.4 overs of the innings.
For those unfamiliar, the dismissal occurred during the fifth over of LSG’s innings. Mitchell Starc delivered a length ball outside off, and Hooda attempted to open the face of his bat and direct it to deep backward point. Ramandeep performed a full-stretch dive to his right, grabbing the catch with both hands to pull off a beauty.

Hooda had notched 26 off 13 balls against Rajasthan Royals in LSG’s inaugural match. Additionally, he was introduced as an impact substitute in Lucknow’s recent loss to Delhi Capitals – yet contributed a meager 10 runs from 13 deliveries.
KKR on top against LSG after powerplay in IPL 2024 encounter
Kolkata Knight Riders have gained control over Lucknow Super Giants. Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first on Sunday’s match. At present, the Super Giants are 64/2 after nine overs have been played. KL Rahul and Ayush Badoni are currently batting. Apart from Hooda’s dismissal, Vaibhav Arora dismissed Quinton de Kock (10 runs off 8 balls) early in the innings.
Lucknow, in fourth position, has made a few changes after only one day since their previous game against the Delhi Capitals (DC), which they lost by six wickets. The playing XI featured debutant Shamar Joseph, Mohsin Khan, and Hooda. Naveen-ul-Haq has been rested for this match.
KKR secured a winning streak of three games early this season, claiming second spot. Their victory march halted when CSK prevailed by seven wickets easily. The Knight Riders are yet to taste triumph against LSG in their past three IPL encounters.
