Since the 2021 T20 WC in the UAE, the Indian cricket team has seen vast alterations in personnel. From coaches to captains and several other players, we now examine four individuals who went missing following the T20 WC.
#1 Varun Chakravarthy
Varun Chakravarthy was included in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2021. It was a hot discussion on his selection as he had an experience of only 3 T20 International matches, but selectors trusted him. However, he failed to meet their expectations as he went wicketless in the three games he played in the tournament.
#2 Rahul Chahar
Rahul Chahar’s inclusion in the T20 World Cup squad was the most debated topic, as he was included ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal. He was not selected in the playing 11 in any key games and was picked up in just one game against Namibia, where he went wicketless. Selectors believed Rahul’s ability to bowl quicker through the air would be more beneficial for the Indian team in UAE’s conditions.
#3 Shardul Thakur
Shardul Thakur was included in the T20 squad at the very last moment as a replacement for Axar Patel. He played two matches in the World Cup but failed to create a significant impact with both bat and bowl.
#4 Mohammed Shami
Shami has been in great touch in Test cricket recently, and he also played every game of the T20 WC, where he picked up six wickets in 5 matches at an economy of 8.84. However, the emergence of young talents such as Avesh Khan and Arshdeep Singh has led to Shami not being a part of the T20I side.
