Harshal Patel, a former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batsman, dealt a big blow to his previous side by capturing Virat Kohli’s crucial wicket at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the chase against Punjab Kings (PBKS).

With RCB needing 47 in 25 balls, Patel smashed it full and wide on the final delivery of the 16th over. After hitting two boundaries, Virat Kohli attempted one of his favorite strokes, the lofted cover-drive, but ended up slicing it in the air off the outside edge for a nice low catch by Harpreet Brat at deep backward point man.

Joy shone bright on the faces of PBKS players. Kohli hit peak form, firing a 16-run blitz against Curran. His fifty came off just 31 balls. At the other end, wickets tumbled rapidly, yet Virat Kohli powered on at blistering pace. He seemed destined for a match-winning ton.

Brar, who made the catch, was perhaps the happiest because he had taken the wickets of Rajat Patidar and Glenn Maxwell for 18 and 3 runs, respectively, in the middle overs but was seeing the former Indian captain win the game nevertheless.

It appeared like Virat Kohli’s wicket would lead to a crushing defeat for the RCB, as Anuj Rawat was also dismissed soon after. However, Impact Sub Mahipal Lomror and finisher-in-charge Dinesh Karthik seized control of the game by scoring early boundaries against Sam Curran, Arshdeep Singh, and Patel.

The equation came down to 10 runs from the final over, which Dinesh Karthik scored in three balls.
