Punjab Kings bowler Harshal Patel faced harsh comments online from some fans. They were upset after he got former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni out for zero runs. This happened in the IPL 2024 match between the two teams on Sunday.
The Chennai Super Kings team went to bat first at the cricket ground in Dharamsala. They were struggling at 150/7 in 18.4 overs when Dhoni came out to bat. But the experienced player could not score many runs. He got out on the very first ball he faced.
MS Dhoni got out to a slower ball from Harshal Patel. Dhoni could not hit the ball well and it hit the stumps. After this, some Dhoni fans were rude to Harshal on social media.
Harshal Patel’s most recent Instagram post was loaded with hate comments, as he suffered the wrath of Dhoni fans.
Harshal Patel bowled very well against CSK. He took 3 wickets and gave only 24 runs in 4 overs. Harshal has taken 17 wickets in 11 matches so far. He has taken the most wickets in this IPL season. Jasprit Bumrah has also taken 17 wickets.
Chennai scored 167/9 from 20 overs. Ravindra Jadeja was the most successful batsman, getting 43 runs in 26 balls.
Harshal Patel Shows Respect After Dismissing Dhoni
Harshal Patel remarked in a mid-inning interview that he has a lot of respect for MS Dhoni, which is why he doesn’t celebrate much when he gets the star wicketkeeper out.
He also mentioned that the afternoon game included a lot of reverse swing. Harshal says:
“Wicket was on drier side. I have too much respect for him to celebrate when I get him out (on Dhoni). One of the advantages of playing a day game is that the square is quite rough. So the ball starts reversing. In my first over it was reversing. It’s all about the feel of that delivery (slower one). More you bowl the better you get. Most batters don’t pick it. Have been practicing in the nets, and when it comes out it gives you great results.”
