Punjab Kings interim leader Sam Curran humbly apologized to the devoted fans for not meeting their expectations in the IPL 2024 season. They found themselves ousted from the tournament as the second team following Mumbai Indians. Nonetheless the English player also acknowledged the silver linings they can derive from this edition.
On the 9th of May the Punjabbased franchise suffered their eighth defeat out of 12 matches. Dharamsala witnessed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) dominating with a 60run victory. Despite the valiant efforts of the Punjab batters the imposing 242 run target proved insurmountable for the hosts.
Sam Curran expressed his delight in the Punjab Kings’ pursuit of the highest-ever IPL score earlier this season during the post-match presentation. He elaborated:
The host team performed poorly on the field at Dharamsala, losing a handful of catches from Virat Kohli, who went on to score 92. Kohli guided RCB’s batting as they scored 241 in 20 overs.
“Really enjoyed leading a great bunch of guys” – Sam Curran
The Surrey all-rounder emphasized the importance to continue learning and come back stronger next year, adding:
While Curran put up a decent performance with the ball bagging 14 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 20.57 the young talent encountered challenges in batting. The lefthanded batter managed to score only 207 runs across 12 games showcasing a top score of 63. PBKS faced a couple of narrow defeats against the Mumbai Indians and SunRisers Hyderabad.
