Pant made his first public appearance after the car accident in December 2022 when he headed to the Arun Jaitley Stadium to cheer on Delhi Capitals (DC) against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday, April 4. Unfortunately, the wicketkeeper-batter has been ruled out of the IPL 2023 season due to the numerous injuries suffered from the crash and is currently rehabilitating. Despite his condition, he still showed up to support his team, smartly dressed in a white t-shirt and shorts, with sunglasses to complete the look.
Excitement and joy filled the stadium as Pant returned, with many of his fans taking to social media to express their admiration for his strength and courage, as well as their hopes for a complete recovery. Below are some of the reactions:
Ricky Ponting, the head coach of DC, previously acknowledged that the team is attempting to bring Pant to the stadium for home games. However, although the team was eager to have their captain in the dugout, they could not obtain approval from the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit.
Missing Pant? Delhi Capitals registered their second consecutive loss in the IPL
DC could not secure a victory as Gujarat Titans defeated them by six wickets in the second match of IPL 2023. The Capitals had a difficult time batting first, with skipper David Warner failing to make an impact and debutant Abishek Porel showing only a small performance before getting out. However, Axar Patel’s 36 off 22 gave them a total of 162/8 in 20 overs. Despite losing their openers early on, the Titans were able to complete the run chase thanks to Sai Sudharsan’s impressive 62* off 48, combined with David Miller’s cameo of 31* off 16. With two wins from two games, GT now top the IPL 2023 points table.
