A few Pakistani athletes apparently have a viral illness before their match against Australia in Bangalore during the league stage of the 2023 ODI World Cup. According to a report by, players like Abdullah Shafique, Shaheen Afridi, and Saud Shakeel are among those who are impacted.
Opening batter Shafique is temporarily isolated in his hotel room owing to a fever, which only makes things worse. According to the source, Shaheen Afridi is making good progress and has a chance to compete in the match on Friday, September 20.
In addition, Pakistan was unable to train on Tuesday, October 17 due to this unforeseen situation. However, they are expected to resume training and take the field on Wednesday, October 18.
The Pakistan Cricket Board released a brief statement addressing the widespread illness within the squad. The statement stated:
“Some players got fever in the past few days and most of them have fully recovered from it. Those who are in the stage of recovery remain under the team medical panel’s observation.”

Usama Mir, the squad’s leg-spinner, was also ill during the recent match the team played against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
No signs of dengue fever among Pakistan players
Shubman Gill, a batter for Team India, recently overcome a case of dengue infection. He didn’t play in either of the team’s opening two league games until returning against Pakistan.
Fortunately for the Men in Green, none of the affected players have shown signs of dengue illness. In this situation, they may be sidelined for as long as a week, just like Gill was.
