Nuwan Thushara claimed Phil Salt’s scalp in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) at Eden Gardens on Saturday. Salt gave the Knight Riders a strong start to their innings, hitting a six off the opening pitch, but he was out in the same over.
The dismissal occurred on the fifth ball of the KKR innings. Nuwan Thushara delivered an outswinger, and Salt crossed the line only to get a top edge that flew far into the sky to Anshul Kamboj at deep square leg. The right-hander departed for six runs off five deliveries.

KKR lose openers early vs MI in IPL 2024 match
In Saturday’s IPL match against MI, KKR lost in-form openers Sunil Narine and Phil Salt early on. Apart from Salt, Jasprit Bumrah cleaned up Narine, the Kolkata franchise’s biggest run-scorer this season.
At the time of writing, KKR were 40/2 after four overs, with Venkatesh Iyer and skipper Shreyas Iyer at the wicket.
The Knight Riders dominate the standings with eight wins out of 11 matches positioning themselves for a playoff berth with a victory. Their aspiration for a toptwo finish in the points table intensifies aiming to secure two chances to advance to the final match with their hardearned 16 points.
On the other side, Mumbai has been eliminated from the playoff competition. In 12 games, the Hardik Pandya led team has only won four. They will attempt to revenge their 24-run defeat against the same team at Wankhede last Friday.
The match began at 9.15 p.m. IST, following a brief bout of rain. It has been decreased to 16 on each side.
