Following their defeat against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Wankhede Stadium on Friday May 17 Mumbai Indians (MI) opener Rohit Sharma and coowner Nita Ambani were seen engaging in a relaxed conversation. A video that surfaced on social media captured the two in an informal chat different from the anticipated enthusiastic interaction by some fans.
The debate between the two also reminded viewers of the passionate exchange between KL Rahul and LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka during a match earlier this month.
The Lucknow Super Giants won the last IPL 2024 group game by 18 runs in a high-scoring affair.
After Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya selected the visiting team to bat first, they scored 214-6 in 20 overs, powered by Nicholas Pooran’s stunning 29-ball 75. KL Rahul also had a serene half-century.
The Mumbai Indians gave it everything they had but were defeated for the eighth time this season. It was MI’s second loss against the Super Giants in the IPL 2024, having previously lost at the Ekana International Stadium.
Rohit Sharma finds form ahead of the T20 World Cup
From the standpoint of the Indian team Rohit Sharma explosive 38ball 68run masterpiece became the highlight with the T20 World Cup 2024 on the horizon. Rohit Sharma right handed blitz led to a half century in just 29 deliveries demonstrating his batting prowess before Ravi Bishnoi outwitted him halting MIs run chase.
Struggling to regain his form in recent innings Rohit Sharma concluded the season on a positive note by accumulating 417 runs in 14 matches averaging 32.07 with a strike rate of 150. However the fivetime champions surprisingly ended up at the bottom of the points table. Of significance Naman Dhir who skillfully scored an unbeaten 62 off 28 deliveries emerged as the lone MI batter to surpass the 50 run milestone.
The Super Giants’ 18-run win did not significantly raise their net run rate, therefore it was insufficient to keep them in postseason contention. It was the first season since their debut in 2022 that LSG did not finish in the top four.
