Upon his arrival at a local polling booth in Ranchi for the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections former India captain MS Dhoni was warmly greeted with enthusiastic cheers. The iconic sportsman received an overwhelming reception surrounded by a plethora of media personnel eagerly trying to capture the moment.
Ranchi is one of Jharkhand’s 14 Lok Sabha seats, and Sanjay Seth of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) is the current Member of Parliament (MP).

MS Dhoni a highly accomplished Indian captain has secured three ICC trophies notably winning two World Cups in the T20I and ODI formats. Guiding Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to victory in five IPL seasons the 42yearold announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15 2020. Despite this he has yet to bid farewell to the IPL.
Former lawmaker Subramanian Swamy had pushed MS Dhoni to run in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. In 2020, he posted on X (previously Twitter):
“I’m more of an Army guy than a politician” – MS Dhoni on whether he will join politics
In an old interview, MS Dhoni stated that he is not interested in politics. The 42-year-old is an honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment of the Indian Territorial Army. He stated (via The Sports Rush):
Dhoni was last spotted playing for CSK in IPL 2024. He is still to make a definitive decision on his T20 future. CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has endorsed him to play in the IPL 2025 season. He recently stated (on CSK’s YouTube channel):
According to speculations, MS Dhoni will have knee surgery, which will determine his destiny ahead of the IPL 2025.
