Mohammed Siraj, a Team India speedster, achieved a stunner during the first day of the fourth Test against England in Ranchi. The consistent right-arm bowler expertly targeted the left-hander Tom Hartley’s fragile off stump, earning his second scalp of the game.
The dismissal occurred in the 76th over of the innings, with Mohammed Siraj bowling his sixth spell. The Hyderabad-born seamer got the ball to travel away late, squared Hartley up, and struck the off-stump.
The delivery before Hartley’s demise gave him an outside edge that went for a boundary as the ball died before reaching the second slip.
Mohammed Siraj’s late movement gets rid of Foakes after solid partnership
Mohammed Siraj, India’s senior bowler in the Ranchi Test in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, broke Joe Root and Ben Foakes’ important 113-run partnership.
With reverse swing in play, Foakes attempted to turn a ball to midwicket, but it came off the inner half of his bat. Ravindra Jadeja made a rather routine catch, forcing Foakes to stroll back for 47.
England elected to bat first after winning the crucial toss in Ranchi. While Zak Crawley got off to a fast start, the visitors fell down 112-5 in the opening session.
Akash Deep, making his debut, dismissed Crawley, Ben Duckett, and Ollie Pope. Ravichandran Ashwin terminated Jonny Bairstow’s innings, and Jadeja claimed Ben Stokes’ wicket with a low delivery.
The English won the first Test in Hyderabad, but Rohit Sharma and his team came back to win the following two convincingly.
