Team India bowler Mohammed Shami has received much acclaim for his outstanding efforts in the current 2023 World Cup. The right-arm bowler has been on fire, taking up wickets at will.
Hasin Jahan, Shami’s estranged wife, recently reacted to the speedster’s excellent performance in the showcase event. She claimed that the bowler’s success will ensure that he remains on the Indian squad and makes a good living, which will safeguard their family’s future.
Jahan said in an interview with News Nation:
She also mentioned that although she would like to send her wishes to the team, for the World Cup she cannot extend them to Shami. Additionally she expressed the following sentiment;
On June 6, 2014, Mohammed Shami and Hasin Jahan married. In 2015, the couple had a daughter. However, the two eventually divorced, with Hasin accusing the cricketer of infidelity, match-fixing, and domestic abuse.
Earlier this year, the court ordered Shami to pay Jahan 1.30 lakh in alimony per month. In September, an Alipore judge granted Shami bail in a domestic violence case.
Mohammed Shami’s sensational form continues in World Cup
Mohammed Shami was benched for Team India’s first two World Cup matches in 2023. After all-rounder Hardik Pandya suffered an ankle injury, he was inserted into the playing XI against New Zealand.
The seasoned veteran made an immediate impression, taking five wickets. He then claimed four scalps in the ensuing match against England.
Shami added another fifer to his collection with a superb stint against South Africa. With 16 wickets from four matches, he is now the Men in Blue’s highest wicket-taker in this World Cup.
