There are reports suggesting that Mohammed Shami the pace bowler of Team India who encountered an ankle injury during the 2023 ODI World Cup may consider seeking advice from specialists in London.
Mohammed Shami at the age of 33 had a splendid World Cup performance by securing 24 wickets in seven matches at an impressive average of 10.71. This achievement positioned him as the top wickettaker in the tournament. Despite being initially named in the squad for the South Africa Tests he was eventually ruled out due to failure to prove his fitness. Furthermore Mohammed Shami has not been included in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England at home.
A report on Cricbuzz suggests that the right-arm pacer may be heading to London shortly to see a specialist. The article also stated that NCA sports science chief Nitin Patel is anticipated to accompany Mohammed Shami.
The report further said that while Mohammed Shami and Patel were lately collaborating on the former’s ailment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, the decision was made to seek a professional opinion.
Along with Mohammed Shami, other players on injury lists include Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The cricket players’ ankle problems are also being treated. In reality, Suryakumar had a sports hernia surgically repaired in his groin on January 17 in Munich, Germany.
Prithvi Shaw may need one more month to return to competitive cricket: Reports
As per the Cricbuzz report Prithvi Shaw the batter might be on the sidelines for another month to stage his comeback in toplevel cricket hinging on his response to the rehab phase. The 24yearold opener has been out of action since August last year following a knee ligament injury.
The website stated that according to sources from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Shaw is set to face a more demanding workload over the following three weeks to evaluate the endurance of his knee in handling the increased demands.
If everything works out as planned Shaw may well make a comeback in the cricketing circuit through the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 or even the Ranji Trophy knockouts.
Shaw whos been in and out of the Indian team since his debut back in 2018 has played in five Tests and six ODIs racking up 339 and 189 runs respectively. He also made an appearance in one T20I facing Sri Lanka in Colombo in July 2021 where he unfortunately got out for a duck.
