With Rishabh Pant’s injury and subsequent exclusion from IPL 2023, the Delhi Capitals have settled on a trio of replacements, one of whom being Luvnith Sisodia. For the 2022 IPL season, Pant led the squad at the helm and was the starting wicketkeeper and leading batsman. Even though he was scheduled to repeat his position in the upcoming IPL 2023, he was forced to withdraw from the tournament after suffering a devastating tragedy a few months ago.
Luvnith Sisodia, Abhishek Porel, and Sheldon Jackson are the three individuals in question. After another round of tryouts on Sunday, one will be named Pant’s successor in Delhi Capitals’ IPL 2023 roster.
While all three of DC’s potential wicketkeepers are incredibly gifted, Luvnith Sisodia stands out for many reasons.
1. When it came to the Maharaja T20 Trophy, Luvnith Sisodia was unstoppable.
Sisodia competed for the Hubli Tigers in last year’s Maharaja T20 trophy tournament in Karnataka. He was named captain and led the team to the postseason. Sisodia scored 389 runs for Hubli Tigers in 11 innings, making him the team’s leading hitter. Throughout the competition, he scored three fifty-plus scores and hit 51 fours and 11 sixes. If signed for IPL 2023, his stats show he can be a game-changer for DC.
2. Luvnith Sisodia is a viable choice for Delhi Capitals in the long run.
At age 23, Luvnith Sisodia still has plenty more cricketing years ahead of him. DC would always like to add a permanent replacement to have a solid wicketkeeper option. Sisodia has excelled domestically and was recently drafted by the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Having been sidelined by injury, he missed the season but would be eager to make up for a lost time.
3. Under close watch by Delhi Capitals for some time.
Sisodia was summoned for trials by the Delhi Capitals, Lucknow SuperGiants, and Mumbai Indians in preparation for the 2023 IPL Auction, in case you were unaware. The child did exceptionally well but did not secure a contract during the auction.
DC’s coaching staff has been watching him for a while now, so they should give him a shot to prove himself.
