Kris Srikkanth the former Indian cricketer unleashed a scathing rebuke on RCB fans for their extravagant revelry following the teams elimination by Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator on May 22. Srikkanth specifically called out the fans for going overboard in their celebrations after RCBs victory against Chennai Super Kings which secured their spot in the playoffs.
After sitting at the bottom of the points chart for most of the IPL 2024 season, RCB went on a remarkable run, winning six consecutive games to secure their playoff spot. In a virtual quarter-final versus CSK, the team defeated their arch rivals by 27 runs and advanced to the knockout stage.

RCB’s elation was short-lived, however, as they were defeated by RR by four wickets in the win-or-go-home Eliminator.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kris Srikkanth thought that the RCB supporters’ early celebrations had come back to harm them.

“In life, when you are doing well, keep your mouth shut and keep going. When you make noise out of something, you are doing you cannot do that work. They were posting unnecessary videos and showing off too much (after the win against CSK). That’s why (Ravichandran) Ashwin came and destroyed them, that’s why in cricket you need to shut your mouth and play.”

Ravichandran Ashwin was the Player of the Match, taking 2/19 in 4 overs to limit RCB to a disappointing 172/8 after 20 overs. In reaction, RR stalled many times throughout the run-chase before completing with one over to spare.
“CSK and MI have done this so many more times” – Kris Srikkanth

According to Kris Srikkanth franchises such as CSK and MI have orchestrated several remarkable comebacks in the IPL surpassing RCB multiple times and emerging triumphant. CSK and MI with five titles each stand as the IPLs most successful franchises while RCB remains on the quest for its elusive silverware.
“If you played well congrats, if you played poorly, then take the criticism but you should never open your mouth and show aggression. They are going on congratulating themselves for qualifying for the playoffs and for the great comeback, CSK and MI have done this so many more times. CSK and Mumbai have both come from nowhere and won titles. These guys won six matches and as soon as they qualified they got knocked out.”

Despite their previous success, CSK and MI were ousted from the IPL 2024 before reaching the playoffs. While CSK finished fifth in the rankings with seven wins in 14 games, MI finished last with just four wins in 14 games.
