Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul demonstrated his wicketkeeping skills by ending the stay of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Ajinkya Rahane during the IPL 2024 encounter between the two teams on Tuesday, April 23 at Chepauk.
Ajinkya Rahane attempted a long cover shot against pacer Matt Henry, but there was just enough movement in the pitch to get an outside edge. The ball was moving, but KL Rahul demonstrated excellent agility by extending his right mitt and making a fantastic diving grab.
Here is a video of Ajinkya Rahane’s dismissal:
The amazing feat of fielding boosted LSG’s spirit on the field, and they quickly struck with another wicket of Daryl Mitchell. Ajinkya Rahane’s poor form persisted, as it did during the most of the 2023/24 domestic season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad key to CSK reaching a competitive total
Both captains remarked that dew may make batting easier in the second innings. As a result, Chennai’s goal of reaching 200 runs is likely to become even more essential.
Despite Ajinkya Rahane and Mitchell’s early wickets, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad ensured that the team maintained momentum throughout the first half of its innings. Gaikwad has already passed the 70-run mark as of this writing and has been careful not to waste his momentum.
The skipper is supported by the in-form Shivam Dube, who had a six and a four at the time of writing. Lucknow shown in the last encounter that they can easily chase down Chennai, especially if dew is present.
This makes it the more vital for Gaikwad and Dube to bat as long as possible and provide the groundwork for the legendary MS Dhoni to finish well.
