KL Rahul, captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), is cleared by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for the upcoming 2024 IPL season. He missed action due to quadriceps injury from the first Test versus England in Hyderabad. Rahul, wicketkeeper-batter, can now participate, being declared fit.
KL Rahul had gone to the United Kingdom (UK) to avoid aggravating the injury he got during the 2023 IPL season, which necessitated surgery. He had to miss the second half of the season for LSG and also the World Test Championship. He regained fitness for the 2023 Asia Cup and also competed in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Despite meeting the fitness requirements, the NCA has suggested that KL Rahul not take up wicketkeeping responsibilities just yet. The LSG captain often does not maintain wickets, with Quinton de Kock and Nicholas Pooran taking over in each of the last two seasons.
Although KL Rahul will undoubtedly play as a specialist hitter in the IPL 2024, it remains to be known where he fits in the LSG batting order. Speculations say that the skipper is ready to bat in the middle order to cement his place in the Indian team for the 2024 T20 World Cup in June.
KL Rahul to Soon Join Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Squad
A squad of athletes has begun prepping for the next big event. They’re being led by some new coaches, since a few left recently. Most players hit the practice field already. Their captain will be joining soon to really get things going.
KL Rahul may have to attend the pre-IPL Captains Conclave in Chennai on Thursday, March 21, before linking up with his colleagues.
LSG will begin their IPL 2024 campaign against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday, March 24.
