Nitish Rana, the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has indirectly responded to his omission from the impending India tour of South Africa. The reply occurred only days after the BCCI revealed squads for the white-ball and red-ball series.
While various names were considered for the six declared squads, including India A teams, Rana was absent from all of them.

The Kolkata Knight Riders have retained Nitish Rana ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. In the previous season, the Knight Riders finished eighth with six victories in 14 matches under his guidance.

Nitish Rana had a solid Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season, scoring 203 runs in seven games at a strike rate of 33.83. He also took four wickets.
Nitish is presently competing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2023. In three innings, he had undefeated scores of 42, 0, and 8. He has four wickets with the ball, including 3/59 against Rajasthan.
Rana has scored 2,259 runs at an average of 38.28 in 74 List A games, including three tons and 14 half-centuries. The left-handed hitter has scored 2,507 runs in 44 first-class matches at an average of 39.79, including six tons and 11 half-centuries.
In List A and FC cricket, the part-time handy bowler has also taken 51 and 24 wickets, respectively.
Nitish scored 413 runs in 14 IPL 2023 matches at a strike rate of 140.96, including two half-centuries.
Nitish Rana was a member of India’s team for the 2021 trip to Sri Lanka. The southpaw scored seven runs in his lone ODI debut and 15 runs in two T20Is.
