Former West Indies and Mumbai Indians player, Kieron Pollard, posted a mysterious message about loyalty on Instagram.
Pollard ended his international cricket career in 2022. He played for the West Indies for 15 years. His last international match was a T20I against India at Eden Gardens in February of that year.
Moving on from IPL was also a part of his journey in 2022, having a not so great season with Mumbai Indians. 144 runs in 11 innings with an average of 14.40 is all he could make. The team missed his finishing sparks in the end overs.
The 36-year-old was then named batting coach by MI management. The hard-hitting hitter only played for the MI club from his IPL debut in 2010 till his final game in the competition.
On Saturday, Pollard resorted to his official Instagram account and tweeted a mysterious message about experiencing maltreatment after demonstrating commitment. It said:
Kieron Pollard’s recent social media post left fans wondering – what’s the story behind it? Many believe it’s a veiled comment about the Mumbai Indians’ new management decision. They’ve recently put Hardik Pandya in charge for next season, replacing Rohit Sharma.
Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma? They’re good pals. They spent over ten years together, helping MI claim five championships and shaping its history. Additionally, Pollard is tight with the Pandya brothers too.
Mumbai Indians let Hardik Pandya go before a significant auction preceding IPL 2022. Pandya then guided the Gujarat Titans (GT) to victory in IPL 2022, their first season. Keeping his successful role as GT’s captain, Pandya led the team to the IPL 2023 finals, where they were bested by CSK.
In the trading period prior to the season, MI brought back Pandya from GT last November. The next month, they removed Rohit Sharma and entrusted Pandya with the leadership responsibility for IPL 2024.
Kieron Pollard’s impressive stats for Mumbai Indians in IPL
