On Saturday, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) leg-spinner Karn Sharma took David Miller’s vital wicket against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the current 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

RCB’s new-ball blitz shocked the GT top order, resulting in their lowest powerplay score of 23/3. David Miller and Shahrukh Khan mended the innings with a crucial partnership in the middle overs. After reaching 50 runs in their stand, there was a movement to change gears. After the midway mark of the innings, the partnership was scoring a couple of boundaries every over.

In an effort to keep the scoreboard ticking, David Miller sent Karn Sharma for a magnificent six over covers off the third delivery of the 12th over. The left-handed hitter wanted more, so he tried to knock one right over the bowler’s head. However, he was unable to achieve the intended connection and had to splice it directly to Glenn Maxwell at long-on. Miller realized he had miscued the shot and was furious with himself even before the catch was made.

The South African hitter received a reprieve after being dropped by Karn Sharma in the 11th over of the innings. He tried a pull shot off Cameron Green’s short delivery. The ball sailed directly to the leg-spinner at fine leg, but it was spilled.

Karn Sharma quickly motioned that he had lost the ball in the lights, resulting in the missed catch. However, he made apologies by taking the key wicket in the very next over, ensuring that his lost catch was not too expensive.

The spinner has surrendered 23 runs in two overs and one wicket to show for his efforts thus far. As of this writing, GT are on track for a competitive score after losing Shahrukh Khan to Kohli’s superb straight hit shortly after Miller’s exit.
