Gujarat Titans batter Kane Williamson had a heartfelt interaction with Sunrisers Hyderabad owner Kavya Maran and management members. This warm exchange took place following the IPL 2024 match between the two teams that was washed out on Thursday May 16. Due to relentless rain at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad the match concluded without even a toss being conducted.
As a consequence, both teams earned one point apiece. Gujarat Titans finished their IPL 2024 campaign with 12 points from 14 games, while SRH became the third team to make the playoffs, behind KKR and RR.
The Hyderabad franchise uploaded a video on their official X feed to provide fans a look at Kane Williamson’s meeting with SRH management. In video, he is seen cordially welcoming Kavya Maran and others in the grandstand at the Hyderabad Stadium.

A look at Kane Williamson’s journey with SRH in IPL
Kane Williamson is revered in Hyderabad for his enduring ties with the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise over the last decade. Fans affectionately call him Kane mama showing their unwavering support. Representing SRH for eight seasons from 2015 to 2022 Williamson amassed 2101 runs with an average of 36.22 including 18 halfcenturies across 76 games.
Kane Williamson led the Hyderabad franchise in 46 matches. During IPL 2018 he guided them to the finals where they were defeated by CSK. Securing the orange cap that season Williamson scored 735 runs at an average of 52.50 and a striking rate of 142.44.
After parting ways with David Warner, SRH management kept Williamson. They handed him a high salary of 14 crores ahead of the IPL 2022 big auction and named him captain.
However the IPL 2022 season took an unexpected twist for Sunrisers. They endured a tough run ultimately landing in the eighth position on the points table. Injuries plagued Williamson limiting him to just 216 runs across 13 innings with a strikingly low rate of 93.50. This string of challenges led the SRH management to reconsider their strategy.
