The Indian Premier League season 2023 will be telecasted in 4K Resolution. Jio owned Sports 18 telecasted the FIFA world cup 2022 in 4K Resolution for free in India for all smartphone users. After struggling with the app’s lagging issues, Jio cinemas has improved their streaming quality, and now they are all set to telecast IPL 2023 in 4K Resolution. It is also speculated that Jio Cinemas and Sports 18 will telecast the IPL in 4K Resolution for free for all users.
Earlier, all the seasons of IPL were telecasted on Hotstar in High Definition. However, these telecasts were paid, and only the paid subscribers of Hotstar were able to access these telecasts. Jio, on the other hand, will telecast 4K, which is four times the 1080p High Definition videos, most probably, without charging anything. BCCI has approved Jio to pursue this plan. However, neither Jio nor BCCI has yet to make an official statement.
Sports 18 gave its 4K streaming a good shot during FIFA 2022 World Cup, where they learned about the severe technical glitches that users had to face while watching live matches. However, if sources are to be believed, Jio has spent considerable money to correct the glitches and deployed a vast staff to assemble its technology. Additionally, Jio is looking to provide the telecast in 16 to 17 Indian regional languages, including Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, and Odia. The Live 4K cricket match stream is also likely to include the feature of “appointment viewing,” which will allow the viewers to check the scoreboard and other such things whenever they want to. They need not to wait for the broadcaster to do it.
