The top-ranked Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah is now the No. One bowler in ICC Men’s Test rankings. With a Player of the Match finish against England in India’s recently concluded Vizag Test match, Jasprit Bumrah shot up from fourth place to top spot.
In the first innings, pacer bowled a brilliant spell of 6/45 which helped India win in Vizag during their second Test match as part if series five-match ongoing. He then took a three wicket haul in the second innings that saw him finish with nine of them as India won by 106 runs.
In his spectacular outing, Jasprit Bumrah passed Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin and Pat Cummins in ICC Men’s Test rankings for bowlers. With 881 rating points in total, Jasprit Bumrah has the current best record of his career.
In the meantime, Ravichandran Ashwin fell from number 1 to position three. The end of the first innings left Ashwin wicketless in Vizag Test and he now has 841 rating points. Kagiso Rabada has retained the second place with 851 rating points while Pat Cummins (828) has dropped from third to fourth position.
Jasprit Bumrah is not the only Indian to move up in the latest ICC Men’s Test rankings
While Jasrpit Bumrah is now leading the ICC men’s Test rankings for bowlers, Axar Patel has climbed up in another ranks all-rounders. Essentially, Patel’s impeccable performance in the first two tests against England has seen him climb up from sixth position to fifth on ICC Men Test rankings for all-rounders. He now has 286 rating points to his name.
England captain Ben Stokes moved by one position (fifth to fourth) in all-rounders’ ranking with 295 points of rating. Although Joe Root has recently put in an encouraging display with the ball, this English county cricketer has fallen from his fourth to sixth place ranking among all-rounders. His total has fallen from 313 to 281 after a disastrous lbwottery in Vizag.
