England struggle to break Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav’s partnership as India end Day 2 on 473/8
After a clinical performance on Day 1, India continued in the same spirit on Friday, increasing their lead in the Test. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill began India’s first innings Wednesday morning at 135/1, inflicting further misery on the English bowlers with fluent hundreds.
They batted through the first session and added 171 runs for the second wicket before leaving in short succession after lunch. Devdutt Padikkal and Sarfaraz Khan then blasted adventurous half-centuries in the middle order, helping India extend its lead even further. However, they were unable to turn them into large ones and left in the third session.
The English bowlers took a few of fast wickets following their partnership to reduce India to 428/8. Jasprit Bumrah (19*) and Kuldeep Yadav (27*) then batted patiently till stumps on Day 2, taking India to 473/8 and a 255-run advantage.
