Ravindra Jadeja took his 250th Test cricket dismissal when he got Usman Khawaja out in the Delhi Test between India and Australia on Friday. The all-rounder also became the second fastest to achieve the double milestone of 250 wickets and 2,500 Test cricket runs in history.
Ravindra Jadeja made a successful return to Test cricket a few weeks ago at India vs. Australia match in Nagpur, taking five wickets in the first innings. He needed three more wickets to reach the milestone of 250, but he could only achieve two in the second innings.
KL Rahul’s excellent grab assisted Ravindra Jadeja in achieving his achievement today in Delhi. Usman Khawaja attempted a reverse sweep off Jadeja’s bowling in the 46th over of the Australian innings. The ball went to the point region, where Rahul leaped and made a first-rate catch.
Jadeja is the eighth Indian cricketer to take 250 Test wickets, following Anil Kumble, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kapil Dev, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, and Bishan Singh Bedi, who all achieved the milestone while playing for India in the Test format.
Australia is one of the leading teams in Test cricket. However, their batters have struggled against Ravindra Jadeja. He has taken a total of 250 wickets in his career, with 71 of them coming from matches versus Australia. In the 14 Tests he has played against Australia, he has achieved four five-wicket hauls.
Shortly after Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Usman Khawaja today, Ravichandran Ashwin captured Alex Carey’s wicket, leaving Australia at 168/6. India has the advantage in the second Test match of the series, making it exciting to see if Australia can reach the 200-run mark in the first innings.
