Before the beginning of IPL 2023, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were dealt a blow, with New Zealand seamer Kyle Jamieson expected to sit out the upcoming tournament. A recurrence of a stress fracture in his back led Jamieson to have surgery. CSK may search for a replacement for the initial tournament, which has not been selected yet. CSK can consider alternatives from the group left unsold at the IPL auction in the past. Here are the three names listed below:
#1 Gerald Coetzee
In the recently held SA20, Coetzee played for Joburg Super Kings. He bagged 17 wickets in 9 games at 13.52 apiece and an 8.07 economy rate. Stephen Fleming, the head coach of CSK, has already worked with him. It will not be surprising if the 22-year-old player takes place as Jamieson’s replacement for IPL 2023.
#2 Paul van Meekeren
Paul van Meekeren of the Netherlands might be the best pick as Jamieson’s replacement. He stood out for the Dutch during the T20 World Cup last year. He also made a mark in the T20 league in the subcontinent, having played in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. It will not be a wonder for cricket fans if CSK chooses him to replace Jamieson.
#3 Riley Meredith
Meredith was impressive during his run in the Big Bash League last season for the Hobart Hurricanes was his control. He has been developed as an all-rounder who can take pace off, swing the new ball and fire booming yorkers. CSK can consider him a serious option to fill the void left by Jamieson for IPL 2023.
