India’s World Cup 2023 journey will kick off on Sunday against Australia at Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. The team will be looking to build a successful campaign and aim for back-to-back victory on home soil, securing their second World Cup trophy.
We all know that the Men in Blue accomplished this feat during the 2011 subcontinental championship. India will enter the match as the favorites to take home the championship and outwit all of their rivals, just as they did in 2011.
However, the team’s attire for Thursday’s training session in Chepauk drew the attention of Indian cricket fans. The mentioned uniform was orange in hue and, from a distance, appeared to light the players wearing it.
Fans posted a ton of humorous comments on social media. One supporter said that the Indian squad appeared to have their practice uniforms made by food delivery service Swiggy, whose executives wear the same color. Others said things that were even more offensive.
We present to you and rank three of the worst practice outfits ever worn by the Indian squad in this article.
3. Red training kit (2011 to 2015)
This red training shirt, which India wore from around 2011 to 2015, did not strike me as very attractive. Although there is nothing wrong with the clothes worn by the latter, many fans complained that the jersey resembled the one worn by officers in the fire department. They genuinely are society’s unsung heroes.
The effectiveness of these jerseys has also been questioned by many supporters, who point out that red will draw more heat to the guy wearing it.
However, this red practice shirt did make the Indian team appear stylish. Although it had nothing to do with Gary Kirsten, it was eliminated shortly after he departed India.
2. Fluorescent training jersey (2012)
This training shirt was made to make the Indian cricket team’s players seem like highlight reels.
Given that they had just recently won the ICC Cricket World Cup, which was held in India the year before, Nike’s motivation for debuting it in 2012 was to draw attention to the team’s accomplishments.
Although the players managed to make more than a statement when they appeared for news conferences wearing it, it would be an understatement to say that this fluorescent training outfit looked terrible.
1. Orange training kit (ICC Cricket World Cup 2023)
On this list, India’s orange practice uniform unveiled for the ICC ODI World Cup that will be contested in India this year takes the prize.
It is the worst-designed training equipment we have covered in this article, and the drumrolls make that point very apparent.
The players and the colors do not mix at all. Furthermore, it makes them appear to be part of a clandestine vigilante organization that was meant to operate late at night but was awoken much too early on a Sunday morning.
Adidas must decide when to get rid of it, but if public opinion is any indication, they must have done it yesterday, if not before.
