Ian Chappell is confident that India has the potential to sweep the BGT against Australia with a 4-0 victory. The former Australian test captain believes that India could do very well against their arch-rivals Australia in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. This is a remarkable statement from the former Aussie skipper as India has already taken a 2-0 lead in the four-match BGT test series.
Rohit Sharma’s Indian team triumphed over Australia by six wickets in the second Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, February 19, gaining a 2-0 advantage in the four-match series. Chappell declared that it would not be simple for the visitors to regain their footing after two consecutive losses.
He expressed to a news channel that the Australians had displayed courage during the evening session of the second day and were even in a tie after the first innings. However, they eventually lost their composure. Adding more to it, He stated:
“Coming back from it mentally is going to be very, very difficult. You don’t have to do it just once, but twice. On that basis, you’d have to say India has a big chance of winning the series 4-0.”
Significantly, Australia had a decisive 62-run advantage and had only lost one wicket at the close of play on the second day. Unfortunately, the team collapsed on the third day, dropping nine wickets in the morning and were dismissed for 113 runs.
The hosts achieved their goal of 115 runs easily with six wickets remaining. India succeeded in keeping the BGT with this victory.
